Description
Luce is crafted using a very particular artisanal technique,
combining our Piuma yarn with a precious lamé thread. The result is a soft, warm yarn with an added touch: a metallic sheen that contrasts with the fuzziness of the wool, creating a minimal yet luxurious style.
Techniques
Luce works beautifully with large knitting needles and crochet hooks, ideally size 8. It’s also perfect for weaving, macramé, and tufting projects.
Tips
The knitting and crochet process is fast and smooth. Due to its handcrafted nature, the yarn may have small irregularities and variations in thickness, but these only enhance its beauty and workability.
With knitting needles: stockinette stitch is ideal, giving a smooth, regular surface. It’s possible to work with other stitches, but we recommend simple patterns that don’t hide the Lamé and allow it to shine.
With a crochet hook: besides single crochet, which works perfectly, you can also use taller stitches like double crochet. Keep in mind that the yarn’s thickness makes it more challenging and slower to work with.
On the loom: we wove this yarn on a rigid heddle loom with a 20:10 reed (2 ends/cm). Easy to weave, though it tends to twist along its axis during beating. We recommend placing the reed in a neutral position before beating. The results are striking: dense, clean, and elegant. Perfect for both interior design and fashion accessories.
An extra tip: pure wool yarns are usually loosely twisted, so they may tighten slightly after the first few washes (without felting!). If you plan to work Luce with large needles or create open or lace patterns, keep this in mind and adjust your needles and measurements accordingly. It’s a good idea to knit a swatch and wash it before starting your final project.
