Maria Friese

Maria Friese is a textile artist. Born in Germany in 1980, in 2000 she enrolled in the Department of Applied Art in Schneeberg/Saxon, earning a diploma in textile design. She later attended a course dedicated specifically to using natural dyes to dye felt. She has numerous exhibitions to her name. She has a history of multiple professional experiences as a teacher of textile design and felting techniques. She has collaborated on many special projects such as the design of wallpaper and silk-screen prints.

For our gallery, Maria has created five works in felt. Wool is the indisputable protagonist of these textile sculptures, created using the wet felting technique and molded into shapes that are geometric yet soft at the same time. Thanks to the colors she has chosen, these works recall the earth and its seeds, sources of future life. From her studio, Maria can admire the Pyrenees and you can feel all of their beneficial influence on her works.

Maria's works are also part of DHG's initiative for the Meyer Children's Hospital. They will be put on sale for charity and the proceeds will be donated to the Oncology Department of the Meyer Pediatric Hospital of Florence. You can find this artist's work on sale here DHG Charity Project.
