Description
Piuma Superwash is a yarn that has undergone a shrink-resistant treatment, which prevents the garment or the yarn itself from felting (for example, during hand-dyeing processes). What does this mean? That the skeins have undergone a treatment in such a way that they are able to be washed in the washing machine with a wool or delicate setting at a maximum temperature of 30°C. It is not recommended to use the dryer.

Techniques
Our Piuma wool yarn is worked with fairly large knitting needles and crochet hooks, starting from size 5.5 and up. It is also perfect for weaving, macramé, needle punching and tufting projects.
Tips
With knitting needles: it’s ideal for stockinette stitch and for all other textures, whether raised or openwork. However, keep in mind that because the yarn is thick, raised patterns should be evenly distributed to avoid weighing down the fabric and creating asymmetries.
With a crochet hook: single crochet stitch provides a firm, compact result. You can also work other crochet stitches as well.
On the loom: we wove this yarn on a rigid heddle loom with a 20:10 reed (2 ends/cm). Recommended only for experienced weavers, as it is very delicate. It weaves well, but care must be taken to keep the reed close and avoid breakage—it does not tolerate tension well. Once woven, it results in a compact and soft fabric. Suitable for interior design projects as well as fashion accessories.

An extra tip: pure wool roving is hardly twisted if at all, therefore after the first few washes it can close up slightly (doesn’t get felted!).
If it’s your first time working with this type of wool yarn, it’s essential to make a small swatch (a few centimeters will suffice) to perform a hand-washing test in cold water or, even better, a dry clean.
A test wash is also absolutely necessary if you plan to work with the Piuma wool yarn using large needles or to create lace or very open stitches, so you can adjust your needles and measurements accordingly.
