Description
Vivienne is made of two strands of mohair and two strands of ultra-thin printed cotton. The result is a DK/Light Worsted yarn where the fluffiness of mohair stands out against the background of the visible cotton, creating a delightful speckled look. The surfaces you get are smooth, generally even, soft, and pleasant to the touch, with an almost "peach skin" effect. Vivienne is a versatile yarn perfect for both elegant and sporty fashion projects.
Techniques
Vivienne works well with medium-sized knitting needles and crochet hooks (ideal sizes are 4, 4.5, and 5 for cables and textures). Like most of our yarns, it’s also perfect for weaving.
Tips
With knitting needles: stockinette stitch appears smooth and flat, highlighting the speckled colors and the slightly irregular fluffiness of the mohair. Besides stockinette stitch, you can also create textures and lace patterns.
With a crochet hook: you can work both single crochet and taller stitches, but keep in mind that if there are many loops to close on the hook, the mohair might cause some difficulty.
On the loom: we wove this yarn on a rigid heddle loom with a 32:10 reed (3.2 ends/cm). This yarn can be used both as weft and warp. The only recommendation is to weave at a low sett to avoid the threads sticking together. The hand is soft, making it suitable for fashion accessories or garments that come into direct contact with the skin. The contrasting color play that characterizes it also makes the weaving visually striking and easier to enhance.
