Description
Kyoto is a cotton yarn of minimal beauty. It is light, very fine and its charm is all in the details.
If at first glance it may seem like a single- colour yarn, another, more attentive person will notice the multiple threads of colour that give each nuance a perfect three-dimensionality.
The fibres chosen to make it all come from the recycling of used clothes. Beauty, attention to detail and sustainability are combined in a very fine thread. What more can we ask for?
We have tested it on many projects and with various techniques. The result is always absolutely refined.
Techniques
Our cotton yarn Kyoto is perfect for
knitting and
crocheting with rather thin needles and hooks, as well as for macramé and needlepunch.
You can also use it for weaving and embroidery. Thanks to its structure, it combines rigidity and malleability in equal measure, therefore it works very well because it remains perfectly in shape.
Tips
With knitting needles: it is suitable both for stockinette stitch and for all other processes, both in relief and openwork, keeping in mind however that the multicoloured and dotted surface of the yarn tends not to bring out the motifs worked unless they are in large relief like braids.
With crochet hooks: single crochet is used to obtain a compact result, but all the other stitches can also be worked easily because the correct twisting of the yarn also allows you to work higher stitches, made up of several loops that are closed from time to time on the 'crochet.
On the loom: we wove this yarn on a rigid heddle loom with a 32:10 reed (3.2 ends/cm). An intriguing yarn not suitable for beginners. The outer thread slips over the base thread, requiring careful handling during weaving. We recommend reducing warp tension to limit reed impact. Best used in combination with other yarns to create color effects. Ideal for clothing and home accessories.
