Description
Pop bases its splendour on contrasting colours and fluorescent touches. Furthermore, it’s adorned with a thin bouclé yarn that makes it delightfully wavy and quite contemporary.
The base is made of recycled cotton. The special twisting used manages to perfectly blend all these elements for a one-of-a-kind effect.
Pop is the quintessence of our textile district, Prato, where yarns and fabrics have been produced for centuries: artisan manufacturing, experience, the willingness to experiment, and a large portion of Italian style.
Pop is a yarn that expresses itself at its best with simple projects because it is so spectacular that it is enough on its own.
Techniques
Pop is best worked with large knitting needles and crochet hooks. It also looks stunning in weaving projects (though handling it requires experience to avoid damaging its structure) and macramé.
Tips
With knitting needles: stockinette stitch and other smooth textures look amazing. Since this yarn is naturally decorative, it pairs beautifully with solid-colored yarns for striped or intarsia effects.
With crochet hooks: single crochet works best, possibly alternating with chain stitches or combining it with other yarns. If you prefer working taller stitches (like double crochet), it's best to use larger hooks (size 7 mm and up).
On the loom: we wove this yarn on a rigid heddle loom with a 32:10 reed (3.2 ends/cm). Pop is not originally designed for weaving, but we believe it's always worth experimenting if you're open to some limitations and enjoy creative challenges. The results—often unexpected—can be surprisingly beautiful. Best used as weft and ideally combined with other yarns. Caution: during weaving, the twisted yarn on the cotton tape tends to slip and bunch up. This creates unique, unrepeatable effects, but we absolutely love the final tweedy-pop texture!
