Description
Sailorman is a soft, ductile, and versatile 8-gauge cotton tape yarn, perfect for creating clothing, accessories, and home décor items.
Its bright colours enhance the beauty of pure cotton.
Techniques
Sailorman works well with medium-to-large knitting needles and crochet hooks. It can also be used for weaving and macramé projects.
Tips
With knitting needles: it's ideal for stockinette stitch and other patterns, whether openwork or textured, as long as they don't weigh down the surface.
With crochet hooks: using single crochet creates a compact result, perfect for making jackets, bags, and placemats. You can also work with other stitches to create more intricate patterns.
On the loom: we worked it with a rigid heddle loom and a 32:10 reed (3.2 ends/cm). Although it's a tape yarn, it’s quite easy to weave—especially in plain weave. Just keep in mind: since it tends to twist on itself, it’s best to rewind it onto bobbins and unroll as needed rather than working from the cone. Perfect for fashion accessories and decorative objects like placemats and table runners.
