Leaves, small evergreen or color-changing creatures, are a lot like us. They breathe, they need water to live, and if you cut them, they will bleed sap. They are laid out on the branches with absolute perfection, and together they are home to small animals of all kinds.

Personally, I am thankful that I was born in Tuscany and that I still live here. There are many reasons for that, but the main one is that just outside the city, you can easily find an incredible natural environment almost anywhere. Forests in which you can breathe fresh air and enjoy the sight of oaks, chestnut trees, beech trees, brooms, ferns, strawberries and robins. Hills with silver olive groves, enormous vineyards and limitless velvety meadows. Villas with Italian-style gardens and natural parks. Shores bordering with pine groves, with their pungent and unmistakable smell.
And when Spring comes, this world comes back to life after the winter hibernation. The leaves of some trees, which had turned a thousand hues of red and orange over the Fall, have now fallen and have been replaced by new, light green leaves. The Old has completed its cycle, and now the New carries on. A constant renewal, which follows the magical rhythm of Mother Nature and which is fundamental to the circle of life .
Our color, Leaf, was created in this spirit. It was designed to instill the spirit of re-birth into all of us. Personally, I often have moments that make me think of re-blossoming. Every morning when I have a delicious coffee from my Moka, for example, or every time I listen to the sea waves tirelessly crash into the water's edge, or when I listen to Nina Simone's Here Comes the Sun. I was born again after a failed love story, after broken promises, during an unexpected by very much needed hug, after watching a group of elephants drink from a lake at sundown from only a few feet away. Leaf is a color for the brave and the fighters, for those who are always able to stand up again after a fall, and for those who can appreciate life, not despite of, but because of its up and downs. Leaf is for those who find new energy in the dew of new opportunities and believe in the motto, as long as you live, you may wish.
