September. A month that I find nostalgic but also very active. The days of September are still officially part of the Summer, but we are about to enter the Fall.

The colors in the sky and on the trees start changing, the crisp morning air, the need to wear a sweater at night; treating myself to a snack of sweet figs, smelling the unmistakable aroma of pan con l'uva (bread with grapes) coming from my mom's kitchen; putting away sun lotion and sandals. All of this makes me think of September as an old friend. One with whom you have spend a wonderful Summer, and who now has to leave you, with a simple yet important question: "I have to say goodbye to you, but what are your plans for the future?".
So I sit down and start writing a list of resolutions and objectives to reach in the next months. To me, September is what the end of the year is to most people. Indeed, this is when I settle accounts, embrace the projects that I decide are long term and dismiss those that I feel do not belong to me anymore.
Also, September is the month in which I appreciate Prato, my city, the most. An incredibly blue sky is above the city center, with white clouds quickly running across because of the wind. You only need to look up to discover this beautiful sky and enjoy it. And the thing I love the most is to take long walks around the city center, at sunset! Walking to Piazza delle Carceri and seeing the Emperor's Castle in front of me makes me feel reassured, because this magnificent medieval fortification is still watching over our town and the sky above me is the same as always. The same that my grandparents looked at, the same that saw the city develop and grow, and knows the most intimate stories of each of us.
Color September was designed with this atmosphere in mind. So, remember that the sky is there for us to look at whenever we want - take a look and let its immensity inspire you. And keep in mind that the September sky, at least for me, the best company to have when you are writing down the inventory of your personal aspirations.
