METHOD
The kimono is knitted flat, horizontally, from sleeve to sleeve, so it is made in one single piece, sewn at the end along the underarms and sides.
Start with the left sleeve.

With knitting needles n° 8 EU / 11 US, cast on 24 (26, 28) stitches and knit 2 rows in garter stitch.
Row 3: knit 1 stitch, increase 1 stitch by knitting into the back loop, continue knitting until the last stitch, increase 1 stitch by knitting into the back loop, knit 1 stitch
row 4: knit all stitches.

Rows 3 and 4 establish the garter stitch with increases at the sides. Repeat them for 7 (5, 2) more times, then repeat row 3 only for 20 (22, 26) more times: you'll reach row 38 (36, 34), which is 27 (26, 25) cm / 10.6" (10.2", 9.8") in length, with 80 (82, 86) stitches on the needle, half corresponding to the left front and half to the back. Continue knitting in garter stitch for 22 (26, 30) more rows until you reach row 60 (62, 64), which is 43 (44, 46) cm / 17" (17.3", 18.1"). At this point, you’ve completed the left front and half of the back.
Row 61 (63, 65): bind off the first 40 (41, 43) stitches for the left front, continue knitting the remaining 40 (41, 43) stitches for the back
rows 62 to 65 (64 to 67, 66 to 69): knit all stitches
row 66 (68, 70): knit all stitches, then cast on 40 (41, 43) new stitches for the right front.
Continue knitting in garter stitch for 22 (26, 30) more rows, reaching row 88 (94, 100), which is 63 (66, 71) cm / 24.8" (26", 28"). At this point, you’ve completed the right front and the back.

Now, begin the right sleeve.
Row 89 (95, 101): bind off the first stitch, knit until the last stitch, then bind off the last stitch. This row establishes the garter stitch with decreases at both sides every row. Repeat this for 19 (21, 25) more times, reaching row 108 (116, 126)
row 109 (117, 127): decrease 1 stitch by working a simple slip stitch decrease over the first 2 stitches, continue knitting until the last 2 stitches, decrease 1 stitch by knitting 2 stitches together
row 110 (118, 128): knit all stitches.
Rows 109 and 110 (117 and 118, 127 and 128) establish the garter stitch with decreases at both sides every 2 rows. Repeat these rows for 7 (5, 2) more times, then knit 2 more rows in garter stitch: you'll reach row 126 (130, 134), which is 90 (92, 96) cm / 35.4" (36.2", 37.8") in length, with 24 (26, 28) stitches on the needle. Bind off the work.

Fold the work in half at the short opening for the neckline, then sew up the underarms and sides.
