Did you know that blue and white horizontally striped jumpers originally came from the seafaring world? In fact, the stripes were very important in the case of a man overboard as they allowed the other sailors to quickly identify the sailor in trouble amongst all waves. Then, the timeless and incomparable Coco Chanel brought the striped shirt to the catwalks thus immortalising it as a fashion icon.
This little prelude serves to introduce you to today's pattern; a jumper with wide stripes, of which there are 3 in total. The jumper is made with our precious Fluffy in mohair and silk. The colors are pastel and have been chosen to create a slightly contrasted effect. However, you needn't follow the color scheme used in this tutorial. On the shop you can find the shades you prefer to create the jumper you want.

With needles n° 4 EU / 6 US and color lily of the valley, cast on 196 stitches, insert the stitch marker at the beginning of the round and join into a ring.
From round 1 to round 12: knit rib 1/1.
Change to needle n° 4.5 EU / 7 US.
Knit all rounds in stockinette stitch for 14 cm / 5.5".
Change to the Hush color and knit all rounds in stockinette stitch for 16 cm / 6.3".
Then change to the Flamingo color and knit 1.
Now the project is divided into 2 parts, so from now on only knit the first half of the stitches back and forth, that is, 98 stitches.
Using the Flamingo color knit:
round 1 (right side): knit all the stitches, turn the piece
round 2 (wrong side): purl all stitches, turn the project.
Repeat rounds 1 and 2 another 17 times, for a total of 36 rounds.

Now we knit only the first 36 stitches to form the neckline (first shoulder), leaving all the other stitches hanging on the needles, both the central ones of the neck (26 stitches), and those of the other shoulder that will be knitted later.
FIRST SHOULDER
round 1 (RS): knit 36, turn the piece
round 2 (WS): close 2 stitches, purl until the end of the row; turn the project
round 3 (RS): knit until the end of the row, turn the project
round 4 (WS): bind off 1 stitch, purl until the end of the row; turn the project
round 5 (RS): knit until the end of the row, turn the project
round 6 (WS): bind off 1 stitch, purl until the end of the row; turn the project
round 7 (RS): knit until the end of the row, turn the project
round 8 (WS): bind off 1 stitch, purl until the end of the row; turn the project.
Knit 6 rounds in stockinette stitch.
Leave these stitches hanging.
SECOND SHOULDER
Knit only the last 36 stitches on the needle starting from the right side of the project.
Round 1 (RS): bind off 2 stitches, knit until the end of the row; turn the project
round 2 (WS): purl until the end of the row; turn the project
round 3 (RS): bind off 1 stitch, knit until the end of the row; turn the project
round 4 (WS): purl until the end of the row; turn the project
round 5 (RS): bind off 1 stitch, knit until the end of the round; turn the project
round 6 (WS): purl until the end of the row; turn the project
round 7 (RS): bind off 1 stitch, knit until the end of the row; turn the project
round 8 (WS): purl until the end of the row; turn the project.
Knit 6 rounds in stockinette stitch.
Leave these stitches hanging.

Knit back and forth over the stitches left hanging earlier.
Knit Using the Flamingo:
round 1 (RS): knit all the stitches, turn the project
round 2 (WS): purl all stitches, turn the project
Repeat rounds 1 and 2 another 24 times, for a total of 48 rounds.
Leave the stitches hanging.
At this point you must sew the shoulders, execute this by using an invisible seam, otherwise knit it. You have to join the 31 stitches left open for each shoulder by joining the front with the back.
However, leave the central stitches of both the front and the back hanging for the neck.
Using needles n° 4.5 EU / 7 US pick up 80 stitches along the armhole, insert the stitch marker at the start of the round in the underarm and resume knitting round.
Using the Flamingo color knit stockinette stitch for 9 cm / 3.5".
Change color to Hush and knit stockinette stitch for 19 cm / 7.5".
Lastly, change to Lily of the Valley and knit stockinette stitch for 15 cm / 5.9".
Round of decreases: *knit 2 together*, repeat from * to * for a total of 40 stitches.
Change to needles n° 4 EU / 7 US to knit the cuff.
From round 1 to round 8: *knit 1, purl 1*, repeat from * to * to the end of the round.
Bind off all the stitches softly.
Repeat for the second sleeve.
On needles n° 4.5 EU / 7 US put the 36 stitches of the back left previously hanging, pick up 15 stitches along the left neckline. Now put the 26 stitches left hanging on the front back on the needles and pick up 15 stitches along the right neckline.
Insert the stitch marker and knit round using Flamingo, you will have 92 stitches on the needles.
From round 1 to round 9: *knit 1, purl 1*, repeat from * to * to the end of the round.
