Do you have a formal summer event coming up and are you looking for an under-jacket made with an elegant yarn that can be worked with ease? Well, you’re in the right place. In fact, our Mademoiselle is a yarn that lends itself perfectly to light garments, such as an under-jacket. It is also a refined yarn due to the slight touch of lurex that spreads with light strokes throughout the yarn. It is Made in Prato by the best of the textile sector and is a tribute to the know-how of our district.
Here you will find the free pattern to make this under-jacket, perfect both for an event or for an afternoon when you’re in the mood to wear something special.

This garment is knitted using two threads.
Cast on 82 stitches, knit 1/1 rib for 8 rows with knitting needles n° 4 EU / 6 US.
Knit stockinette stitch for 34 rows.
Now change to size n° 5.5 EU / 9 US.
Row 1: in the centre of 38 stitches purl 1, knit 1 from behind, repeat for 6 rows
row 2: purl 1 and 1 double stitch for 6 rows
row 3: increase 1 purl stitch and 1 double stitch for 12 rows
row 4: increase 1 purl stitch and 1 double stitch.
At this point set the stitches for the working the sleeve hole and at the same time decrease the internal stitches for the rib work. For both the neck and the sleeve holes, continue working on half of the stitches, that is, for 10 stitches, 2 stitches are knit together, for the sleeve opening, close 6 stitches and set the stitching on 7 stitches, execute a stitch passed over. Repeat these instructions until you finish the central stitches worked in stockinette stitch, then continue the decrease on the rib stitches until you have 8 stitches and continue the rib work for 16 rows (under jacket shoulder pad).

Work symmetrically for the other part.
Knit rib as done for the front, divide the stitches as follows: 23 stockinette stitches, 37 double rib stitches and 23 stockinette stitches, all with knitting needles n° 4 EU / 6 US.

Now switch to size n° 5.5 EU / 9 US.
Row 1: increase 1 stitch for 70 rows
row 2: decrease 15 stitches on each part and set the piece as for the excavation of the front sleeve and simultaneously decrease the internal rib stitches until there is a total of 20 rib stitches
row 3: continue the central work for 12 rows, then do 2 increases on each side 4 times, so you will have 36 stitches. Proceed like this for 10 rows.
Close all stitches, sew taking care to hide the tails of the threads.
Now the under jacket is ready to be worn.
