Today we will instruct you on how to make a goose using the needle felting technique. All you need to do is follow the step-by-step instructions of the artist who had the pleasure of working with our carded wools, namely Pinamolina, who has already created a tutorial for a super cute needle felted narwhal for us.
Geese are aquatic animals, with webbed feet that help them swim as if they were a fish! In addition, they are also migratory birds that travel for hours and hours in flocks, in the magnificent V formation. A contrivance that helps geese, like many other migratory birds, fly using the updrafts and therefore saving energy. What wonders nature gives us!
Want to know something interesting about geese? They are loyal and faithful animals. If someone takes care of them, they don't forget it. And when it comes to couples, they are monogamous and fall in love for life.
And now that you know geese, would you like to make one of your own with us?

PROCEDURE
1. Begin with the body, creating a semi-oval shape. Take a layer of wool, wrap it, and compact it on itself.

2. Begin felting with the needle and continue modelling it using your hands until you get a similar shape.

3. Now start felting the goose’s neck. Take another layer of wool and wrap it around itself to create a compact cylinder.

4. Felt everything, but being careful to leave the fibers loose at both ends.

5. Take a small amount of wool to create the head, make a small cone and felt, being careful to leave the fibers free at both ends.

6. Proceed with joining the base of the cone to the tip of the neck, start felting the loose fibers adding wool if necessary.

7. Now, join the base of the neck to the body, also in this case felt the fibers that have remained loose.

8. Create a cone for the goose's tail, felt the tip thoroughly leaving the fibers free at the base.

9. Using the same process as in step 7, join the tail you have just made to the body.

10. Take another layer of wool and create a half-moon shape, which will become the wing. Felt it just enough to keep a shape.

11. Attach the wing to the body by felting it so that the part attached to the back is uniform. Push the fibers down creating a step in the lower part of the body. To finish the outline felt with the needle angled.

12. Now proceed to making the goose's legs. You will have to create a mix of the three colours of carded Maori wool, those being: Rouge, Orange and Melon. To mix them you can help yourself with a comb or simply using your hands. being very small components, the colours will become uniform during this process.

13. At this point, take the mix you have created and tear off a tuft of it to make the beak. Try to give the fibers a cone shape and leave the ends free.

14. Place the beak on the goose's head and, using one or two fine needles, push the fibers of the beak into the head. To create a fine finish, use a thin layer of Natural White bergschaf wool to place at the base of the beak, like this way you will create continuity and the work will appear more refined.

15. Now move on to the first leg of the goose. Create a compact cylinder with the mix of colours, to make it easier roll the wool with your hands.

16. To felt the first leg you can either use the felting base as you have up to now, or you can use a piece of card.

17. Now proceed making the shape of the webbed leg of the goose. It is not an easy shape to make, so frequently turn over the work first on one side and then on the other until the desired compactness is achieved.

18. Now join the two shapes you have created. To give continuity to the shape it will be necessary to add more wool near the joint.

19. This is the result of the webbed leg.

20. Now match the free leg fibers to the body of the goose.

21. To better refine the attachment of the leg to the body, use a layer of bergschaf wool col. natural white. Create a donut shape around the paw and felt everything. Repeat this process for the other leg as well.

22. Finally create a ball with bergschaf wool col. dark simply by rub it with your fingers.

23. Apply the ball to one side of the head near the beak. Repeat this procedure for the other eye as well.

24. The piece is finished. Take a good look at the goose you have created and if you locate any finishing touches to be made, this is the time to effectuate them.
