How to knit a frac-like vest

Today we’ve got a special pattern for you: a frac-style vest, meaning a vest with a longer back. This is the main feature we really wanted to highlight in this piece. We absolutely love it. The extra touch that makes it truly special, though, is the yarn: Luce, crafted with a very particular artisanal technique that combines our Piuma yarn with a fine lamé thread. A real luxury for the eyes and for the skin.

We’d like to remind you that the beauty of all our garments, which you can find on our blog, and the final look of the pattern are guaranteed only when you use our yarns. They are what make the difference between a project you’ll be proud of and a disappointing result.

Now pick your favorite shade of Luce from our online store and get knitting!

How to work the finishing

Sew one shoulder seam. For the neckband, with knitting needles n° 7 EU / 10½ US pick up an even number of stitches all around the front and back neckline and work 6 rows in 1x1 rib. Fasten off. Sew the neckband and the other shoulder seam. For the armhole bands, with knitting needles n° 7 EU / 10½ US pick up an even number of stitches all around each armhole, starting and ending at the underarm, and work 6 rows in 1x1 rib. Fasten off. Close the armhole bands, then sew the sides for 12 (12, 13) cm / 4.7" (4.7", 5.1") up from the underarm: the remaining centimetres of the sides stay open to form the side slits (remember that the back is longer than the front). With crochet hook n° 7 EU / K-10½ US finish the side openings by working 1 row in crab stitch.
