Please note that the items "Maori" carded wool and Fluffy yarn are being replenished but the high demand for it is making production times longer than usual.
We´re doing our best to keep the wait to a minimum.
Thanks for your patience!
For the launch of the color collections for our 14.5 and 16 micron Merino wools, we developed some very special promotional materials.
Like other times before, some people asked if this was too much work "for just some promotional material". I have always answered, and will continue to answer, that I really do not think it is. After all the effort and the work we put into creating new products to meet our customer's needs, it seems like the least we could do to create color cards, promotional material and packaging that match the quality of our product, right?
Also, to be honest, I am used to following my head as well as my heart in my work, and both tell me that it is good for my health to make beautiful things, which can move and delight myself before anyone else. And it is exactly this excitement in my head and my heart that moved me to create the new set of cards which will accompany these new materials around the world, telling something more about them.
First of all, they are made, just like our color cards and sample boxes, with FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified paper, which means that the cellulose in this paper comes from forests which are properly and responsibly managed, according to strict environmental, social and economical standards. They are not only beautiful, they are also environmentally friendly!
They not only tell us about the new colors (and I think they do this perfectly), but they also carry a specific dedication. Indeed, we decided to dedicate this collection to the many women that cross our path every day, and and who inspire us in a thousand different ways, just by being normal in a very special way. A bit like these colors: beautiful and with a strong character, but very delicate. That is why our spokesperson is our graphic designer Silvia (Shi to her friends), who is one of us, a woman of today, strong, energetic, determined and obviously always on the run like all working women. However, despite always being in a hurry she never forgets her feminine side, that she shares with us and that was captured by Agnese's camera: she left her graphic tablet for a second and she became a modern day Botticelli's Spring. 5 minutes after the photo shoot, she took off the garland and created the graphic layout for her own picture. So, here's to the women of today: everday goddesses.
Lastly, another reason why I love these cards is the twine that binds them together, carrying a lead seal with our logo. The lead seal is not purely for aesthetic reasons, as many may think, but rather it is a piece of our tradition which we wanted to bring back so that we could tell you about it. This type of lead seal was in fact used years ago in fabric bolts to mark that a certain length had been reached. For example, a client would ask the textile factory to put in a lead seal every 20 meters of fabric, so a 100 meter bolt would come out with 5 lead seals. Tiny milestones in the many kilometers of fabrics made in our town. We can only imagine how many lead seals were sold by Mr. Carlo, our trusted dealer. We love him not just because he has a wonderful shop in the historic center of the city, but also because when we talked about our idea he was extremely enthusiastic and started telling us a lot of interesting anecdotes, full of nostalgia. Indeed, lead seals are not used anymore as they were replaced by more modern systems. Systems which are surely more effective and functional, but, we are sure, also less poetic.
