Today we'll learn how to bring Kyoto to life with a super crop striped sweater. Perfect for playful girls who love to show off their belly buttons! The colors we've chosen are Fuji and Genista, but you can find a thousand other combinations in our shop.
In our collection, we have a yarn that really stands out, called Kyoto. It has a nice cotton base, and the other component comes from used garments. That's already a good job, we would say. It then has a unique appearance, with many small touches of color that emerge from the single-color yarn that encloses them. It's very refined and perfect for knitting, as in the pattern proposed here, as well as for accessories. Textile jewelry, for example. Also beautiful for hand weaving.

Twisted knit:
knit the stitch in the back loop of the stitch underneath.
1/1 rib:
work alternating 1 knit stitch and 1 purl stitch on both the right side and the wrong side of the work.
Stockinette stitch:
row 1: knit
row 2: purl.
Repeat rows 1 and 2.
Increased knit stitch:
lift the thread between the worked stitch and the next and knit 1 twisted stitch.

The sweater is worked flat and is made up of 4 pieces: the back, the front, and the sleeves. The neck edge is worked afterwards after sewing one shoulder.
With knitting needles n° 4 EU / 6 US and the Fuji color, cast on 53 stitches.
Rows 1 to 6: work in stockinette stitch
row 7: knit 2, 1 increased knit stitch, repeat (knit 3, 1 increased knit stitch) until the last 3 stitches, knit the last 3 stitches
row 8: purl
rows 9 to 12: work in stockinette stitch
row 13: knit 1, 1 increased knit stitch, continue in knit until the last stitch, 1 increased knit stitch, knit the last stitch
row 14: purl.
Change to Genista color.
Rows 15 to 24: work in stockinette stitch
row 25: work as row 13
row 26: work as row 14.
Change to Fuji color.
Rows 27 to 36: work in stockinette stitch
row 37: work as row 13
row 38: work as row 14.
Rows 15 to 38 set the stripe stockinette stitch pattern with side and armhole increases; repeat them one more time, then change to Genistacolor and work 2 rows in stockinette stitch: you reach row 64, equal to 32 cm / 12.6".
Now shape the shoulders.
Row 65: bind off the first 15 stitches, knit to the last 15 stitches, bind off the last stitches.
row 66: bind off the first 10 stitches, purl to the last 10 stitches, bind off the last stitches.
Bind off.
Work exactly as for the back.
Start with the right sleeve.
With knitting needles n° 4 EU / 6 US and the Genista color, cast on 42 stitches.
Rows 1 to 14: with Genista color, work in stockinette stitch
rows 15 to 34: with Fuji color, work in stockinette stitch
rows 35 to 54: with Genista color, work in stockinette stitch
rows 55 to 74: with Fuji color, work in stockinette stitch.
rows 75 to 80: with Genista color, work in stockinette stitch.
Continue with Genista color and start shaping the sleeve cap.
Row 81: bind off the first 2 stitches, knit to the last 2 stitches, bind off the last stitches
row 82: purl
row 83: work as row 81
row 84: purl
row 85: bind off the first 3 stitches, knit to the last 3 stitches, bind off the last stitches
row 86: purl
row 87: work as row 85
row 88: purl.
Bind off.
Work the left sleeve as stated for the right sleeve.
Sew one shoulder for 21 cm / 8.3". For the neckline edge, with needles n° 4 EU / 6 US and the Fuji color, pick up stitches evenly around the front and back neckline, that is, on the 24 cm / 9.4" before and after the shoulder seam. Work 2 rows in 1/1 rib, then bind off. Sew the neckline edge and the other shoulder. Set in the sleeves on the 17 cm / 6.7" before and after each shoulder seam. Sew the underarms and sides.
