Description
This soft wool yarn is made with our
extra fine merino tops. Because it is a
slightly twisted roving, it maintains all of the natural softness and lightness of wool while still being
easy to use with knitting needles and crochet hook. What’s more, once this wool yarn is worked it tends to puff up even more and gets chunkier. Therefore, the pieces you make will not only be super warm and soft but totally cozy too.
All you have to do now is try it!
Certifications
Like all that isn’t enough, the dyes are
Oeko-Tex standard 100 certified and is done in our dyeinghouse which is
GOTS (updated to the last version) and
GRS certified. The wool fiber that’s used
is mulesing-free. As we don’t want to compromise on the beauty, but also not on sustainability and respect for animals.
Techniques
Our Piuma wool yarn is
ideal to knit and
crochet with but also with macramé, needle punch and tufting.
Tips
An extra tip: pure wool roving is hardly twisted if at all, therefore after the first few washes it can close up slightly (doesn’t get felted!).
If it’s your first time working with this type of wool yarn, it’s essential to make a small swatch (a few centimeters will suffice) to perform a hand-washing test in cold water or, even better, a dry clean.
A test wash is also absolutely necessary if you plan to work with the Piuma wool yarn using large needles or to create lace or very open stitches, so you can adjust your needles and measurements accordingly.
